Promising Partners is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the educational and personal development of teen parents.
Our mission is to provide teen parents social and emotional support for the completion of high school and opportunities for further education and to reduce any negative consequences for the children of teen mothers and fathers.
Our purpose is to match pregnant or parenting teens with an adult volunteer mentor. Mentors serve as supportive, caring role models, spending time with mother and child and providing guidance and friendship. They can help in improving the educational, health, and social prospects of this generation of young people and the next.
By providing teen parents with better choices for education, training and eventually careers, they have been given the most important gift of all – the chance to achieve economic self-sufficiency to support their family and independence as an adult.
Promising Partners is currently available to approximately 200 teen parents in the Lewisville Independent School District that includes the surrounding communities of Lewisville, Flower Mound, The Colony, and Highland Village.
With the support of Lewisville Independent School District Administrators and School Age Parent Program (SAPP) Coordinator Marilyn Sanders, Promising Partners provides guidance, support, and encouragement to teen parents in the SAAP program through our mentoring program. Our services are free and volunteer based. Funding for our program comes from corporate giving, foundations, community groups and individual contributions. Our Vision |
|
Our vision is to have a program in which teen parents are nurtured by their mentors, the community and the school district, supporting teen parents as they face their future and assisting each of them to develop into their full potential.
By encouraging teen parents to complete high school, it opens their eyes to opportunities for further education, and ultimately promotes independent living and attainable employment goals. |
